皆様、新年明けましておめでとうございます。

昨年は、第2期トランプ政権の発足、その後DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency)、Tariffs, ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement)というキーワードに代表される出来事が矢継ぎ早に発生し（これ以外にもいろいろありましたが）、極めて目まぐるしい一年でした。今年も、この状況に大きな変化が起こる兆しは少なく、「振り回され感」に囚われることになるものと想像されます。また、数年前から急速な発展を遂げた⼈⼯知能（Artificial Intelligence）技術はその勢いをますます加速させ、数年前には想像すらできなかった能力が、誰にも容易に手に入るようになりました。AIバブルを心配する向きがあるのは事実ですが、それを上回る期待感も同時に存在しています。

このような不透明で動きが激しい時代の流れにおいて何が⼤切かと⾔えば、将来への希望を持ち続け、冷静な分析と判断を繰り返し、正しい未来を次世代に引き継いでいくことではないかと思いす。JCCNCは 1951 年に⽇⽶のビジネス促進と発展を⽬的に設⽴されました。設⽴当初の⽇本の経済⼒や国際的な地位は、現在とは比較にならないものでしたし、⼤戦の記憶も強く残っており⽇系⼈・⽇本⼈・⽇本企業に対しては、「偏⾒」という逆⾵も吹いていたと思われます。そのような中、この⽇本商⼯会議所が設⽴され、当地における我々のビジネス環境を改善してきたわけです。このような先⼈達の努力・未来に向けての夢・夢の実現に向けての投資があったからこそ、今⽇私たちが当地で安定したビジネスを行う環境ができているわけです。

現在、JCCNCでは、メンバー企業約 280 社を代表して、カリフォルニア州政府、地元の各商⼯会議所、当地の⽇系関連コミュニティとの積極的交流に⼒を⼊れています。また、総領事館のサポートもいただきながら、ビジネス関連を中⼼としたセミナーや、メンバーネットワーキングのイベントも多数開催しています。若⼿の⽅々（「気持ちは若⼿」という⽅も含め）にも参加しやすいイベントも⽤意しています。このような活動に、皆様どんどん参加していただければと思います。いろいろな動きに振り回されることが予想される 2026年ではありますが、このような時こそ、皆様の知恵と⼼意気を集結させることが重要です。JCCNCは、それを可能とする触媒的な機能を提供して行ければと思っています。本年も、どうぞよろしくお願いいたします。ぜひ、一緒に良い年を作っていきましょう！

Happy New Year to all of you!

Last year was an exceptionally eventful one, marked by the inauguration of the second Trump administration and a series of developments represented by keywords such as DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency), tariffs, and ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement)—among many others. This year, we see few signs of major changes to this situation, and it is likely that we will continue to feel a sense of being “swept along” by these dynamics.

Meanwhile, artificial intelligence (AI) technology, which has advanced rapidly in recent years, continues to accelerate. Capabilities that were unimaginable just a few years ago are now easily accessible to everyone. While concerns about an “AI bubble” certainly exist, they are accompanied by even greater expectations for its potential.

In such uncertain and fast-moving times, what matters most is to maintain hope for the future, to repeatedly engage in calm analysis and sound judgment, and to ensure that we pass on the right future to the next generation.

JCCNC was founded in 1951 with the mission of promoting and advancing U.S.-Japan business relations. At that time, Japan’s economic strength and international standing were far from what they are today, and memories of the war were still vivid. Japanese Americans, Japanese nationals, and Japanese companies faced strong headwinds of prejudice. It was in this environment that the Chamber was established, working to improve the local business climate for our community. Thanks to the efforts, dreams, and investments of those pioneers, we now enjoy a stable business environment here.

Today, JCCNC represents approximately 280 member companies and actively engages with the State of California, local chambers of commerce, and Japanese-related communities. With the support of the Consulate General, we host numerous business seminars and networking events. We also offer programs that are accessible to younger members—or those “young at heart.” We hope you will actively participate in these activities.

Although 2026 is expected to bring continued turbulence, this is precisely the time to unite our wisdom and spirit. JCCNC aims to serve as a catalyst to make this possible. We look forward to working with you this year. Let’s create a great year together!
